Each week we will be releasing a new parent guide to support you and you child in using the HPL skills and behaviours in the school, home and later in their working lives.

This week we are happy to share our guide to Analysing.

Linking

Generalisation

Follow the same set of rules as all students. Be ready, respectful and calm in all that you do. Be rewarded for positives and sanctioned for negatives.	Following a code of conduct for all staff in the workplace. Working with people who have similar ideas. Being able to share collective ideas with a group of people.	Following societal norms and values to integrate positively. To use different social institutions effectively for example education and healthcare. To be able to go through life knowing the different agencies that are available to support when required.

Linking

Connection finding

Making links in a range of different subject areas. Making connections with concepts from year 7 through to year 13. Making links between pastoral and curriculum.	Making connections between different projects that you are involved in. Sharing ideas with different colleagues and managers. Being able to motivate others by making links between different areas of your job	Making memories that will last a lifetime. Making connections with people from around the world. Meeting new people or reconnecting with family. Having the ability to make connections in your careers.

Big picture thinking

To be able to see the bigger picture in what we are doing to put things into perspective. To use your knowledge to see beyond the classroom. Thinking about where the learning journey is going.	Seeing the bigger picture of your role and how it benefits the company. Understanding that your job role is important to your employer. Having line management meetings discussing well – being.	Putting ideas into perspective. Thinking about how your actions can affect others. Positive and negative effects of your actions. (Could someone get hurt from your decision?)

Intellectual playfulness

Completing tasks where there is more than one right answer so you can learn that different people make different links and sometimes it is not the most obvious which is the most helpful. Encouraged to look for patterns in your work and find the best solution. Being able to identify the links in your learning and justify why you think that.	Being able to work with others and appreciate that their may be more than one way to complete a task. To identify how you have overcome something and discuss this with your line manager. To look for the most efficient ways to complete a task and share this with others.	To understand that people parent their children in different ways. Realising that there is not one right way to socialise your children. To look for ways to give your children the confidence to be their authentic selves in society.

Seeing alternative perspectives

>Being understanding and tolerant of other people’s values and beliefs. Accepting that people have different values and beliefs. Being respectful towards other people’s beliefs.	Accepting that you may not always get things right to be able to learn from others. using other people’s ideas to support your work. Providing different perspectives for a particular idea.	Being tolerant to other beliefs within society. Being respectful towards other beliefs and traditions. Understand that we live in a multi- diverse society with many different views.

Abstraction

Being able to process things without writing them down. Apply problems to a theoretical situation. Working with a range of problems and come to an abstract conclusion.	Using theoretical examples to explain a problem. Being able to come to a conclusions quickly and effectively. Being able to process things mentally without writing them down.	Being able to respond to a problem quickly. Understanding that things can change rapidly and adapt accordingly.

Being able to be creative in your learning. Using different ways to approach learning in the classroom. Finding new ways to learn that suit you.	New ways to approach meetings. Critical or Logical Thinking

Evaluate theories and ideas by highlighting strengths and weaknesses. Evaluating your own practice by understanding strengths and weaknesses in your own work. Using critical thinking to gain deep understanding of a topic area.	Being critical of your own work practices when it comes to appraisal. Discussing your progress with line manager identifying strengths and weaknesses.	Being critical and logical when completing household tasks to be as efficient as possible. Creating logical ways to complete daily tasks to maximise potential.

Analysing

Precision

Completing tasks to the best of your ability using precise vocabulary to maximise potential. Using precise methods to complete a task. Following set rules to be able to work something out efficiently.	Using specific methods to maximise potential. Following set methods correctly and efficiently.	Being able to work with money and finances. Being able to use a monthly budget. Being able to use precise methods to run a household for example bills, money, work routine, childcare.

Complex and multi - step problem solving

Using a set of steps to solve problems in the curriculum. Using a range of steps to be ready, respectful and calm around the Academy.	Using a set of steps to complete your day to day jobs. Following methods when approaching meetings or presentations. Discussing steps you have taken with your line managers.	Using a set of steps in the day to be the most efficient version of yourself.
