World Book Day 2020

Once again KEVI HWGA celebrated all things books on World Book Day.  This took place on Thursday 5th March.  The student council along with the librarians decided on a selection of activities, along with fundraising for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital.  In the library, they held a samosa sale, bookmarkers were made & sold by the student council & every student was given a £1 book token.  In addition the library was able to swap these tokens for a free World Book Day book title.

The English department all dressed up as a book character along with various reading activities within lessons.

The house competition that was organised by student council & the library went very well, with forms decorating their doors in the design of a book cover.  The overall winner came from 8 Ennis.  Well done to everyone who took part.

We also held a D.E.A.R -‘Drop Everything And Read’ whereby for ten minutes everyone in the academy, both students & staff, all picked up a book and read at the same time.  There was a lovely atmosphere with lots of excitement and smiling faces.  Let’s continue to nurture the love of books and reading.  Thank you to all for your efforts & support.
