Weekend trip to Paris July 2014

Paris trip 3rd – 5th July 2014

At 10pm on Thursday 3rd July, a group of 30 students, along with Miss Jaouen, Mrs Newman, Miss Hey and Ms Searle, set off on this year’s trip to Paris.

After several hours on the motorway, we arrived at the Shuttle Terminal in Folkestone for our 3.30am crossing to France. The journey on the Shuttle only took 40 minutes and was a new experience for most of the students. After a few more hours on the motorway, we arrived at the service station where the students had their first chance to practise their French when ordering their breakfast.

We arrived at Disneyland as it was opening, and headed into Disney Studios for the morning. After lunch we went into the main Disneyland Park where the students enjoyed the rides and spent lots of money buying souvenirs in the gift shops. After watching the Parade which featured all the Disney characters, we headed to The Disney Village to have our tea at McDonalds.

At around 9pm we arrived at our hotel and the students settled into their rooms. After such a long day the teachers were expecting the students to be tired and fall asleep quickly, but no such luck! Some students still had the energy for midnight feasts!

The next morning (after much knocking on bedroom doors by the teachers!) the students were up bright and early for another French breakfast. We all enjoyed the croissants and pains au chocolat!

At 8.30am, we headed into the centre of Paris for our visit to the Montparnasse Tower, which has the best views of Paris and the fastest lift in Europe (56 floors in 38 seconds!). After taking lots of photos and buying more souvenirs, we drove off for a final tour around Paris, in which we saw the Louvre Museum, the Champs Élysées, the Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame Cathedral and of course, the Eiffel Tower.

We finally headed up the motorway towards the Shuttle Terminal, and after a quick stop at the Cité Europe shopping centre where the students spent the last of their euros, we arrived in good time for our Shuttle crossing back to England.

We all arrived safely back at school at 11.30pm on Saturday night. I’m sure the students and staff slept well when they finally got home to their own beds!
