Year 10 GCSE Trip to Stratford upon Avon June 2014

The Year 10 students studying Geography at GCSE in Key Stage 4 visited Stratford upon Avon to collect primary data to complete their Controlled Assessment on return to the academy. The title of the CA set by the AQA Exam Board is “Investigate the positive and/or negative effects of tourism on a locality”. Before the visit the students had worked in groups to produce questionnaires and also decided upon their individual work in order to achieve level 3 for their methodology. During the day the students completed land use maps and traffic surveys as well as talking to both visitors and residents. We were fortunate with the weather and students were able to take numerous photographs to include in their work and completed environmental surveys at various times during the day. The students now have approximately 17 hours to complete their Controlled Assessments which are then marked out of 60, representing 25% of the final exam.
