HWGA Students collaborate with PHD Students from University of Birmingham

On Wednesday 15th January, year 12 students had the opportunity to collaborate with PhD students from University of Birmingham. The students engaged in conversations about climate change and investigated  the impact of microplastics in water fleas.  The students used their investigative skills and observed the heart rate of water fleas in clean water and polluted waters from local river sources. This was an excellent opportunity to challenge and stretch our students and an example of the science department making links with the real world. The PhD students also shared their individual academic journeys which enthused our students and exposed them to different careers such as environmental science and marine biology.
